read a fascinating thing about breathing I'm working on for a breathing post that basically this concept of anxiety in modern day which is unique to being modern (wo)man short circuits certain biological functions such that we get stuck in this breathing loop we weren't designed to. Oh man I'm explaining it badly but the point is it's the physical incarnation paired with the the conciousness part that starts to see all the trappings of the combination...
Wow OK, interesting. That's another example of the mind-body loop isn't it - that certain fear states get us breathing differently, then our default breath pattern trains our brain to think it's afraid at all times, and so on...
its like you breath wrong, and your body then has breakers set up throughout (involving kidneys too for example) because it anticipates you are going to be running from a tiger, but it does not anticipate that your breathing wrong from a thing that actually isn't going to be physically taxing, so all the breakers it sets up makes the oxygen less accessible
I'm definitely one of those who puts a lot of the blame for contemporary depression and anxiety on our lack of connection to the "real world" and doing "real things" - things like running from tigers! We're just left with our brains whirring endlessly, making trouble for us.
